HELMETS

( number of products: 134 )

Our racing helmets come from Bell, OMP Racing, Sparco and Stilo and cover car racing, rallying and karting. Most of them are FIA homologated, with rally helmets, HANS versions and carbon shells among them. CMR helmets for young drivers sit alongside them, and there is a separate section for karting helmets. Open-face jet helmets are part of the range as well.

How to choose a racing helmet

Start with the homologation your series asks for. FIA homologation is the usual requirement in car racing and rallying run under FIA rules. CMR helmets are made for young drivers, and all four brands have them in the range. Then decide on the version. Rally helmets form a large group, with models from Bell, OMP and Stilo. HANS versions and helmets with HANS clips are ready to connect to a frontal head restraint. Bell offers some helmets with HANS clips and others without HANS posts.

Helmets by brand

The range of Bell helmets runs from FIA helmets, including rally and HANS versions, to CMR karting helmets, some of them in the designs of well-known drivers. OMP helmets cover car racing and rallying with FIA homologated models and also include a CMR option for karting. Sparco helmets come as FIA models in standard and carbon versions, alongside helmets in Gulf and Martini Racing designs. Stilo helmets offer the widest choice for rallying, with composite or carbon shells, and include CMR models too.

Completing your kit

Add-ons for your helmet are in helmet accessories. A helmet is only one layer of protection: race suits are worn over fireproof underwear, and race gloves and race boots complete the driver's kit. Further items are in protective gear.

How is a rally helmet different from a helmet for circuit racing?

The safety requirements are similar, so both need the homologation set by the regulations. The difference lies in communication: in rallying the driver and co-driver talk throughout every stage, so rally helmets are usually designed to take an intercom.

Does a rally co-driver need a different helmet from the driver?

No. The co-driver follows the same safety rules as the driver and needs a homologated helmet as well. Both helmets should work with the intercom system fitted in the car.

How can I tell whether a racing helmet is FIA approved?

An FIA homologated helmet carries an FIA homologation label on the shell showing the standard it meets, and you'll find the standard on the product page too. Regulations list the accepted standards and older homologations are phased out over time, so check the current rules of your series before buying.
