Neck Collars
( number of products: 15 )Racing neck collars from Alpinestars, OMP and Sparco are worn around the neck under the helmet to support the head and cushion the helmet edge. The selection includes OMP Nomex collars and collars with rear support, along with Sparco collars in adult and kids' versions, so young drivers can wear a collar made for them.
Choosing a racing neck collar
A neck collar is a padded ring that limits how far the helmet can tip sideways and stops it striking the shoulders. Alpinestars, OMP and Sparco all offer standard collars. OMP adds two options: collars with rear support for extra backing behind the neck, and Nomex versions made from the flame-resistant fibre used in many race suits, including one that combines both. Sparco makes its collar in adult and kids' versions.
Formula 1 drivers rely on a frontal head restraint rather than a collar. If you came looking for F1 neck protection, see our HANS devices and hybrid devices. For rib and torso protection, have a look at body protectors and protective vests, or browse all protective gear.

Is a neck collar the same as a racing neck brace?
No, although the terms are often mixed up. A collar rests on the shoulders and works on its own. A head restraint such as HANS sits under the harness and is tethered to the helmet, controlling forward head movement in a frontal impact. Many car racing series require an FIA-homologated frontal head restraint, and a collar does not replace it.
Is a neck collar suitable for karting?
Yes, karting is where collars are most common. Karts have no harness, so a tethered head restraint cannot be used, and a collar helps ease the strain on the neck through corners.
