Choosing shoes for sim racing

On a simulator, your feet do the fine work on the throttle and brake. That is why many sim racers prefer shoes with a slim, flexible sole that lets them feel the pedals, rather than bulky trainers. How much ankle support you want and where else you plan to wear the shoes will narrow the choice further.

Sparco has the widest selection here. Several of its shoes come in a standard version and in leather or suede, so you can keep the same shape and pick the finish you prefer. Mid-cut versions sit higher on the ankle, which some drivers find more secure during long sessions. The waterproof shoes make sense if the same pair has to cope with wet weather outside the sim room.
